Honor 90 vs Honor 90 Pro comparison

Honor is one of the Chinese companies that wanted to write its name in gold letters in the Android market as soon as it got rid of Huawei's acquisition of it. Honor has become a standalone brand that is not affiliated with any other company – at least that's what it looks like.

Once it became independent, we saw many great phones from Honor that come with the latest version of the Android system and integrated support for all Google Play services. Annually, the company provides excellent options for all categories of users, including economic and medium.

But the company has a distinctive imprint in the flagship phone market, “flagship”, and this year was not much different from the previous year, as the Honor 90 series comes with the latest technical specifications that you can find in any Android phone, but with regard to visual capabilities specifically, it moves us to a whole other dimension with its groundbreaking 200MP camera sensor.

Unfortunately, we did not have personal experience with either of the two phones, but we were able to review some reliable reviews that revealed to us the most important features and exciting differences between Honor 90 and Honor 90. Honor 90 Pro.

Through our experience, we can explain to you in simple lines what are the common denominators and critical differences between both phones to help you evaluate and make the best choice.

Honor 90 Pro is not yet available in global markets

Honor 90 Pro is not yet available in global markets

Honor 90 models were launched in China during the first week of May. A few weeks later, the basic Honor 90 model made its way to some global markets including Europe and the United Kingdom, which costs €549.

As for the Honor 90 Pro model, it has not yet reached international markets, but the phone will certainly be launched in all markets, including the Middle East and North Africa, but later this year.

We just do not know when exactly this will happen, but we are confident that it will happen because the brand confirmed itself during the event announcing the arrival of the two phones in the global markets later in 2023. Honor 90 came early, and only its flagship brother remains.

Also, all possibilities indicate that the Honor 90 Pro will come at a higher financial cost, given that it contains many additional leading features, including the most powerful processor, Telephoto sensor, dual stereo speakers, and faster charging.

The Pro model features a 32MP Telephoto sensor

The differences between the base model and the “Pro” models usually appear in the camera setup, as the more expensive model often comes with a better camera setup, and this time is no exception.

Although both models have a triple camera setup and a 200MP main sensor, this time the Pro model features a 32MP Telephoto sensor. But what does this mean?

This means that the Honor 90 Pro phone will offer much better optical zoom capabilities than its average-cost brother, as the Pro model supports 2.5x optical zoom capabilities, which gives you the ability to zoom in on distant scenes, objects, and objects without negatively affecting the quality or original resolution of the image.

Certainly Telephoto sensors are not as efficient as telescope sensors or better known as binoculars. But in the end, the Telephoto sensor gives you fairly good photos while zooming in on scenes and objects at a great distance from you.

Both phones have a 12-Megapixel ultra-wide lens with a field of view of 112 degrees.

The only difference in the camera setup between both phones is the Telephoto sensor on the Pro model.

As for the basic model, it lacks the zoom sensor and replaces it with a 2-Megapixel depth-sensing lens, which unfortunately has no great benefit or importance.

In any case, the camera tests for both phones indicate that the results are really impressive, and they both provide great pictures in various shooting conditions, even during the night and low-light conditions. However, if you tend to take pictures from long distances, and you think that getting close to distant objects is one of your top priorities, then you should wait for the Honor 90 Pro to arrive.

Honor 90 Pro includes a more powerful processor

Honor 90 Pro includes a more powerful processor

In terms of performance, you can distinguish between both phones very easily. The Honor 90 is powered by the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 SoC which is a mid-range processor, while the Honor 90 Pro is powered by the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC.

The processor used in the Pro model is manufactured by TSMC, not Samsung, which means that it is better than the first-generation Snapdragon 8 Gen SoC in all cases, whether in terms of performance, energy efficiency or temperatures. But since we are comparing the Honor 90 and Honor 90 Pro phones, the differences between the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 and Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 are very clear in favor of the Pro phone.

The Pro phone contains a leading processor, which was considered the most powerful processor from Qualcomm until early 2023 before the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 was announced. We have seen it in a large number of leading phones such as Samsung’s fourth-generation foldable phones, the Xiaomi 12 series, and the OnePlus 10 phone. Ultra, ASUS ROG Phone 6, and many more phones.

As for the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 processor, besides the Honor 90, we also saw it on some mid-range phones such as Xiaomi 13 Lite, Xiaomi Civi 2, Oppo Reno 8 Pro, Motorola Razer 40 and others.

There is a clear difference between both the processors as they both belong to different categories where the Honor 90 processor is classified in the middle category, while the Honor 90 Pro processor is classified in the leading category.

In a nutshell, if you are thirsty for better performance while playing games and working on more resource-hungry apps, Honor 90 Pro should be your next phone.

Pro model supports faster charging speed

Pro model supports faster charging speed

Initially, both phones do not support wireless charging, which is a big disappointment for us. We wish the Pro model would at least support wireless charging. But it seems that the company decided to bypass this feature in order to keep the price of the phone as low as possible.

However, the Pro model supports 90W wired charging, while the base model supports 66W wired charging. Both are excellent speeds for refilling the battery in record time. But the Pro model ensures that you can charge the battery to 56% in just 15 minutes.

These insane charging speeds have become one of the most important requirements that millions of users are looking for at the present time, despite being a risky feature. Both phones contain a 5000 mAh battery that can last for two days of light use.

Conclusion

This was a quick comparison between Honor 90 and Honor 90 Pro. The Pro model clearly seems to be the winner in this competition, which is why we expect it to come at a higher price than its basic sibling.

You should define your requirements before purchasing, if top-of-the-line performance or a Telephoto sensor is your priority, then you should wait for the Honor 90 Pro to arrive.

But if it's easy to live with a mid-range processor and a flagship 200MP camera sensor, you can go ahead and put your foot on the right footing with the Honor 90 and take advantage of the price difference.
