How to hide and show apps on iPhone

We show you a detailed explanation of how to hide applications from the iPhone mobile screen, create folders and organize icons, in addition to explaining how to show applications on the iPhone home screen again.

If you feel annoyed by the number of applications that fill the home screen of your iPhone, today we will tell you about the perfect solution for that through a new feature provided by iOS 14 and above, which is the App Library that groups all your applications in different categories and displays them in a separate page on the right. You can classify them separately.

Not only does the App Library add some automatic organization to your phone's home page, it also allows you to clean up your home screen by hiding as many apps as you like.

You can keep your favorite apps front and center, and keep those that are the most annoying or least used.

In fact, one of the ways to keep the screen clean is to show only all the newly installed apps in your App Library which we are going to explain to you today in detail in that article.

Hide apps on the iPhone home screen

If you want to organize your current apps by hiding some apps on iPhone, there are several ways to do that.

You can remove individual apps from the home screen, hide an entire screen of apps, or you can organize several apps by placing them in a dedicated folder.

Click on the application of your choice until a menu appears. The menu will include a number of options, depending on the app's features (for example, if you tap an app for Microsoft Teams, the menu will give you options to make a new call or start a conversation). But you will always get an option (marked in red) to remove the app. Click on that.

You will now have the option to delete the app from the phone or remove it from the home screen. Select the latter. You will still find the app in the App Library.

If the app isn't already in the App Library, after clicking "Remove App," you'll instead be given the option to delete the app or move it to the App Library.

Hide a page from applications on iPhone phones

You can also hide an entire page of apps and get rid of that page in one step if you want. And since it's really easy to get back to the same page, too, it's a great way to hide groups of apps that you only use occasionally.

  • Tap and hold an empty part of your screen until the apps start to jiggle
  • Click on the dots at the bottom of the screen
  • You will now be able to see small versions of all your screens (except for the App Library and the date and day view). There is a check mark at the bottom of each visible screen; Deselect any screen you want to hide and tap Done in the top right corner.
  • To "unhide" any of the screens, follow the same instructions and replace the check mark on the screen you want to see again.

Show apps on home screen iphone

Once you hide the app icon, it will disappear from the iPhone home screen but you can bring up the hidden apps again and find them in the App Library.

If you want to unhide an app, find it in the app library and hold it with your finger, it will show you a menu, choose from that menu (Add to home screen).

Quick tip: Apps are organized by category in the App Library, to make them easy to find.

Use folders to organize apps on your iPhone

You can use folders on the home screen to group similar apps together and save space. It won't hide apps completely so don't worry they will be there. But they will be combined into a single space.

It is very easy to create a folder and this is done by the following steps:-

  • Long press an app on the home screen until the icons jiggle
  • Move the app to one of the lists of other apps you want to group it with
  • You will now have a gray icon containing the icons of the apps in the folder. Tap the icon to open the folder and access the apps in it.
  • iOS will assign a name to the folder based on the apps you put in it. To change the name, press and hold on the folder, and select Rename from the popup menu. Then type in the new name you want.

To remove an app from a folder, simply open that folder, long-press the app until it jiggle, and move it out of the folder to another space on your home screen. If you remove all apps from a folder, the folder will disappear.

If you want to get rid of a folder, you can also long-press on it and select Remove Folder. Any apps that were in the folder can then be found in the App Library.
